Jones The Ref For Arsenal V City

The currently appointed referee for Coventry City's Capital One Cup tie at Arsenal tomorrow night is Michael Jones from Chester.

One of the most experienced referees in the game, the 44 year old started refereeing aged 15 after being left out of school sides.

He was promoted to the Football League list of Referees in 1997 and the Premier League Select Group in 2008.

His last City match was the 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers on November 28th 2009, when he booked five and sent off Stephen Wright.

Previous City games are the 2-1 defeat at Derby in January 2009, the 4-1 home win over Southampton in October 2008, the 1-1 home draw with Scunthorpe in November 2007, the 5-0 defeat at West Brom in December 2006, the 2-1 home win over Plymouth in November 2004, the 3-0 home cup defeat to Tottenham in September 2003, the 2-2 draw at Preston in April 2003, the 3-1 defeat at Burnley in November 2002 and the 1-0 defeat at West Brom in December 2001, 

His last Arsenal match was a 3-2 win at West Brom last season.

This will be his fifth game this season and so far he has shown 13 yellow cards including six in Everton's 2-2 draw with Newcastle United.

His assistants are Michael Mullarkey and Peter Bankes and the Fourth Official is Andy D'Urso.
