Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has said that he is sick of saying that City need new faces before the season starts against Ipswich Town on Sunday Augusrt 9th.

"I am not going to say I am any closer to get anyone new in, that I am having this conversation or that conversation," said a frustrated Chris Coleman to the CT.

"I am sick of talking about it. It would be nice to see new faces coming in because we need them, and I am not going to try to brush any of the dust under the carpet. We all know we are desperate for new faces, it's as simple as that.

"The lads we have got are not daft; they know we need a bit of help and we are short. And it is very dangerous to go and start the new season, A, with a squad as young as it is and, B, with the numbers we have got, because that is asking for trouble.

"The boys are tired and that showed against Dunfermline, but when you have had five young kids come in and we are missing experienced players like Marcus Hall, Ben Turner, Elliott Ward and David Bell, it is hard.

"That was Sammy Clingan's first game since coming from Norwich where he has not kicked a ball or played for three months, so we are woefully short in terms of numbers. We need more quality and quantity - across the board we need more players."

"I have been delighted with the kids we have brought in but they can't play and are not ready to play Saturday/Tuesday, Saturday/Tuesday because it is too much and it shouldn't be forced upon them. "We have had to do that because we have had so many injuries and not enough numbers to field a different team during the pre-season.

"The lads we have got have had too much football really and we have not been able to rest them enough times and that's when you get games that are short of a bit of quality. But I tell you what we are not short of, and that's giving everything they have got.

"You could see in the first half that they were off the pace but for 20 minutes in the second half that was more like us and we should have had an equaliser. Leon Best hit the bar and then we tired again in the last 15-20 minutes, but to be fair to the players, they are not kidding me on. They have been giving me what they have got.

"The kids have been great but they have played too much football for this stage of their development. The lads who we have got fit have given us what they have got but we are just woefully short and that's dangerous for us because we have only got less than two weeks before we start the season."
