I'm Just Happy To Be Playing - Wright

Coventry City defender Stephen Wright is happy to be playing. The right back has been dogged by injuries to his achillies and knee since signing for City in August and yesterday played at centre half against Sheffield Wednesday as cover for Elliott Ward.

"My knee is fine and I am just plodding along with it and I am just happy that I am playing," said Wright to the CT. "I am monitoring it and hopefully it is OK and I just want to play every game until the end of the season now."

"We are delighted to get three points going into the New Year. It was a massive one with a couple of results not going our way on Boxing Day.

"The gaffer told us to put every effort into the game against Swansea and then we had a couple of players out against Sheffield and only had three fit defenders, so Aron Gunnarsson had to come in at right-back and did very well.

"I have played bits and bobs at centre-back before. "I started out in midfield at Liverpool and then got dropped back to centre-back and then pushed across to right-back because trying to move Sami Hyypia and Stephane Henchoz was a difficult task and it was a case of either play at right-back or don't play at all.

"So although I haven't played there too many times in my career, I do know the position and it is one I have found not too bad for myself."
