“I didn’t know I was playing until 1pm. I’d come on against Brighton and thought I played okay, so when I knew I was starting I was really pleased.”
The former West Brom player has been linked with a return to his former club since the Sky Blues made it clear that they are desperate to sell him to ease their massive debts.
Responding to speculation about a move to West Brom, Hughes said: “I’ve got three years left on my contract and I’m not looking to move at all.
“I’m happy to play for Coventry and hopefully help get them promoted because we’ve got a great chance when you look at the strength of our squad.
“There’s no doubt about it, if the gaffer can hold on to everyone we’ll be looking for at least a top-six place and hopefully automatic promotion in the top two.”
“I’m pleased that West Brom are doing well and are finally in the Premiership. But I hope to be playing there soon – with Coventry.”
“Like everybody else, I’m really enjoying my football here. The coaching staff have brought a buzz to the players and the fans and the team spirit is just unbelievable at the moment.”
