Higgs Charity Will Prevent City Using AHC As Training Base

The Alan Edward Higgs Charity have a clause which means any company which has taken legal action against them will not be able to build or develop any land at the Alan Higgs Centre.

This means that plans for AHC to become Coventry City's new training ground will not be allowed to go ahead due to action taken by SISUagainst the Higgs Charity.

Peter Knatchbull-Hugessen, clerk of the Alan Edward Higgs Charity, told the Coventry Telegraph: “There should be no transfer of any land to any organisation that has been in litigation with the charity in the past five years from the date of the covenant. That would exclude any Sisu related companies.”

Asked if he understood the move could seem vindictive, he said: “If you don’t trust someone...do you want to have anything more to do with them? The answer is no.

“For trustees, every dealing with them has turned sour and it’s a case of once bitten, twice shy.”

There has been bad blood between the Higgs Charity and Coventry City owners Sisu ever since Ricoh Arena talks between the two broke down in 2012. The charity was a 50 per cent shareholder of Ricoh Arena operating firm ACL at the time but eventually sold its half share to Wasps along with Coventry City Council.
