Hammers bid for Calum

According to a football rumours website,West Ham have tabled a bid for Calum Davenport of £350,000. Such a fee is likely to be rejected by the Sky Blues who have already turned down £3.5m for the defender.

It has been announced that Lee Hughes failed a drug test on his first day inside Birmingham Prison at Winston Green. Hughes tested positive for cannabis. A Prison Service spokesman refused to comment but confirmed that at an internal investigation was under way at HMP Birmingham into the leaking of an official photograph of Hughes taken at the jail. This was printed today in the Sun newspaper.

He said: "I can confirm the validity of the photograph. "I can also confirm that an internal investigation has now been launched by the prison to ascertain just how the image came into the public domain."
