Coventry City forward Cody McDonald has admitted that he was gutted not have put away all his chances and given the City supporters something to sing about after the 1-1 draw at Yeovil Town on Saturday.

Speaking to the CT's Alan Poole, McDonald, who gave City the lead, said: “I should definitely have stuck that one away and I had a couple of other chances as well so I could have finished with a hat-trick.

“The fans were great today and I was really gutted that I couldn’t finish it off to give them something to cheer about, get the three points and send them home happy.

“That’s very disappointing but, as they say, as long as you’re getting into those positions the goals will come and I’ll be looking to do that against Sheffield.

“It’s a huge game for us because you’ve got two massive clubs going against each other in the third tier so we have to make sure that we perform on our own patch.

“If we can beat them we’ll have four points from two games and things will be looking good because they always say that winning your home games and drawing away sets you up for a good season.

“This isn’t an easy place to come and but we are disappointed to only come away with a point.

“After we scored we sat back a little bit and let them get back in it, but in the second half we controlled the game and should have gone on to win it.”
