Coventry City striker Freddie Eastwood has been fined £750 for fly-tipping.

Kidderminster based Eastwood was in front of Stafford Magistrates after rubblish which included shoe boxes, prams and carpets was found in Sedgely. These were traced back to Eastwood by South Staffs District Council who found bills and bank statements addressed to Eastwood amongst the rubbish.

Eastwood pleaded guilty to the offence of transferring controlled waste without taking reasonable measures, which took place on February 20th.

According to the Express & Star, Eastwood 'told the court he earned £1,000 a week.' He also told the court that "he had asked his local authority to ask them to collect a backlog of rubbish but was told they would only collect one bin. He said an unknown man in a white van had stopped outside his home and asked if he had any rubbish. Eastwood had handed over £120 and the man, who Eastwood was unable to describe, had taken away the waste."

Eastwood also admitted that he had not asked the man if he was authorised to dispose of the rubbish.

Eastwood's legal advisors called for an absolute discharge on the grounds that the publicity from this was bad enough. But Magistrate Chris Gooch fined Eastwood £750 with court costs of £834 and a victim surcharge of £15.
