Former City War-Time Player Dies

Former Coventry City war-time player George Edwards has died aged 87.

Welshman Edwards,played for Swansea before the second World War and was stationed in the Midlands during the 1939-45 conflict where he played for City before Harry Storer took him to Birmingham City.

Now a Wales International, he signed for Cardiff for £12,000 in December 1948 and played for them until he retired in 1954/55.

in later life, George had two spells as a director of Cardiff City.
