Former Coventry City Ladies and Coventry City Girls defender Laura Bassett played for England Women’s tonight in their 2015 Women’s World Cup Round Of Sixteen game with Norway.

Mark Sampson brought back Bassett after resting her against Colombia for this game in the Lansdowne Stadium in Ottawa.

There were no goals in the first half but in the 54th minute, Norway took the lead when Solveig Gulbrandsen flicked home a header following a corner.

On the hour mark, Steph Houghton headed home from a corner and sixteen minutes later, Lucy Bronze scored with a stunning strike to put England back in front in front of a crowd of 19,829.

That was enough to give England their first ever win in the knock out stages and a place in the Quarter-Finals against Canada on Sunday morning at 12.30am.
