Fleetwood Take Richard Wood On Loan

Former Coventry City defender Richard Wood has joined Fleetwood Town on a one month emergency loan.

Wood has struggled to command a regular place in the Rotherham United team and has joined Fleetwood, saying to their club website:  “I’m just looking forward to playing now and getting some match time under my belt.

“It’s been frustrating not being involved at Rotherham but this is an ideal opportunity for me now for a month at Fleetwood.

“It looks a good Club with a good set-up, and I’ve spoken to the manager previously as well as playing against him a few times.

“It’s an ideal time for me to come here as there’s some interesting games against some top teams coming up this month.

“I know the gaffer has been interested in me for a little while and he’s always looked at me, but the move came about last night and I drove over this morning.

“It’s been a quick turnaround but I’ve been expecting or waiting for this to happen having not been involved at Rotherham, so have been looking to get out on loan.

“Fleetwood have obviously risen through the leagues quite quickly and have a lot of different things going on.

“The training ground is going to be a good set-up when complete, and they’ve got a good management team who have been here a few years now.

“I’m feeling fit and I’m feeling fine. I did all the pre-season games at Rotherham and we’ve had reserve games too which I’ve played in every one. I’m raring to go.”
