Fitness Tests For City Trio

Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd is giving fitness tests to Sammy Clingan, Lee Carsley and Ben Turner this afternoon to see if they have any chance of making Saturday's afternoon's Championship game against Crystal Palace.

"They have been running and striking balls but it is that last little bit," Boothroyd said to the CT. "We are in a real roulette wheel at the moment where you throw the ball and spin the wheel and watch every single thing they do.

"They have got to have the confidence and sometimes injuries can be psychosomatic where they are thinking about this, that and the other, and there can be a fear of getting injured again.

"The boys want to make sure they are right and they don't want to let anyone down.

"Sometimes you have to play when you are not 100 per cent and sometimes you have to get that balance right between not re-injuring them and making sure they get through it and feel comfortable.

"So it is a very difficult balancing act and that's why we have physios and sports scientists. They will train today and we will see if any of them will be close."
