Coventry City keeper Keiren Westwood made his first competitive appearance for the Republic Of Ireland, when he played in their Euro 2012 Qualifier against Macedonia in Dublin tonight.

Westwood's previous five caps had only come in friendlies and he watched on as Aiden McGeady gave Ireland the lead after eighty four seconds with a low drive from outside the area.

In the 21st minute, former Sky Blue Robbie Keane made it 2-0 when he banged in a Gibson free kick which the visiting keeper failed to hold.

Westwood, who had not had a shot to save, was beaten on the stroke of half-time when Ivan Trickovski slipped the ball underneath him and was cautioned by the Hungarian referee for time-wasting but was not really tested apart from a 75th minute block with his legsn as Ireland did enough to win.

Westwood will be in Ireland's squad to face Uruguay in Dublin on Tuesday.
