Gary McAllister has been linked with the assistant manager's job at Derby County. The Scot who resigned as City manager due to his wife's illness, has been working for a scouting network.

Rams boss Phil Brown told BBC Radio Derby: "I thought my first signing was going to be a number two. "Hopefully before the Cardiff game will be able to make an announcement.

"I've spoken to Gary on a couple of occasions but there are a whole host of people interested in coming here and I want to make sure I get the right one."
