Coventry City Director and City supporter for over fifty years Joe Elliott has been talking about the club's 125th anniversary which will be celebrated on Wednesday ahead of the League Cup 1st Round tie with Aldershot Town.

Speaking to the club website, Mr Elliott said: "This date is not only a celebration of the club's past but signals the beginning of a new era at Coventry City.

"We all know about the troubles the club has faced in recent years but with a new chairman and an exciting new squad and management team in place I believe we can look forward to a successful future both on and off the field.

"We saw the effect a good cup run can have on the city when 11,000 supporters travelled to watch us beat Manchester United last season and I hope our fans will show the same level of support on Wednesday night and join us in celebrating this important date in our history.

"I hope the significance of the occasion will encourage those fans that may not have been to watch Coventry City play in the past few years to return.

"I would also like to see some new faces at the Ricoh Arena and I hope the low ticket price for this game will help us to attract fresh support.

Tickets are priced at £12 for adults and £6 concessions. To buy tickets call into the club ticket office at the Ricoh Arena, call 0870 421 1987 (option 1) or if you are registered use the club's online ticket service by clicking on "http://www.ccfc.talent-sport.co.uk/PagesPublic/ProductBrowse/productHome.aspx"
