The Football League have said that they will be working with clubs to try and cut down on the number of pitch invasion by supporters.

A number of Coventry City matches last season saw pitch invasions in protest at the way the club is being run by Otium Entertainment Group and Sky Blue Sports & Leisure under the ownership of Sisu Capital Limited.

There were also pitch invasions by supporters of a number of other teams in protest at their club's owners, whilst there were pitch of invasions from celebrating supporters including at the League One Play-Off Final at Wembley.

The EFL have said in a statement, following their annual conference, "The view of the increased number of pitch incursions during the past season, the EFL has committed to working with clubs and their safety teams to determine what practical measures can be put in place in 2017/18 to keep supporters off the playing area.

"The legitimate right of protest was acknowledged but not on the field of play, which should be the domain of the players."
