Freddy Eastwood has expressed his delight at returning to Southend United.

Eastwood has joined The Shrimpers until June from Coventry City and speaking to Southend’s official club website, the forward who left Southend in 2007 said: “I can't wait to put a shirt back on, it has been a while

"I've not been playing at Coventry recently and I am desperate to come back and score the goals we need to get Southend promoted.

“I always hoped that one day I would come back and play at Roots Hall again as I had some amazing times there.

"It has come a bit sooner than I probably thought but the club are on the brink of having some good times again so I can't wait to help them get promoted.

"The club has changed since I was last there but they are in and around the top of the table so from that perspective it will be like old times.

"I had a really good relationship with the fans the last time round and hopefully I can give them something to smile about this time so it will be a win-win situation.

"Looking back it was obviously the right decision to leave for my career at the time but obviously is hasn't quite panned out as I had hoped.

"But I had some great times with Southend and they gave me that opportunity so I definitely owe them a lot - hopefully now I can repay the club.

"I'm travelling down from Coventry now and I will train with the side for the first time on Friday morning before travelling to Bristol Rovers.

"The manager at Coventry hasn't really played me this season but I've not had any serious injuries or anything and I'm eager to get going."
