Don't bother phoning Iain Dowie today if you want a City player today is the clear message from the City boss,
Dowie thwarted from bringing in any players due to the takeoever not going through and the club's financial problems, told the CT: "I'd love to do something today but there's no scope. "In fact, I think I'll be switching off my phone because I don't want anyone coming in for one of our players - that could be the big problem for me.
"As things stand nobody's made an approach, but it's always a nagging worry "Generally things are done very close to the deadline and, given the finances here, it would be very concerning to get a call saying 'we need to do something.'
"That can happen but hopefully it won't and if it does we'll cope with it. "My view is that nobody will be leaving the club - there may be one, but it won't be a major player and if that happens it will because I think it's right for him and right for the club.
"It's very important that when anybody leaves it's for football reasons, not financial - that would be very disconcerting for everyone. "But I think the board are aware of my feelings and they know that if I was suddenly told that something has to happen for financial reasons they'll have one very unhappy bunny around the place."
