Gary Deegan has said that he wants a fresh start after signing for SPL side Hibernian on a one year deal.

Deegan's position at Coventry City became untenable after he made a tweet which appeared to breach the terms of his contract and offended a good number of City supporters, some of whom complained it is understood, to the Football League and FA as well as the Sky Blues.

City were able to command a fee, rumoured to be around the £100k mark, for him due to playing for them before he was twenty four and Deegan signed on Saturday morning which meant he was unavailable for Hib's defeat at Dundee United yesterday.

Deegan has teamed up with Pat Fenlon, who was his manager at Bohs in Dublin, once more and he told the CT: "It's a perfect move for me and I'm excited about what we can achieve in the season ahead.

"Pat is a manager who gets the best out of me and we enjoyed a lot of success before I earned my move to England.

"I know some of the players especially James McPake. He told me all about the club, its supporters and the massive potential that exists at the club.

"I can't wait to get started and get stuck into the challenge of helping Hibernian improve on last season."
