Deegan Injury Hands Doyle Chance

The Sky Blue future of Michael Doyle has taken another twist with the news that Gary Deegan has suffered a stress fracture to his ankle and will see him out for between three and four months.

With Deegan definitely out, that leaves the door open for Doyle to extend his stay at The Ricoh for a bit longer.

Doyle started last night pre season friendly game at Nuneaton and has been training with the rest of the squad, so his manager Aidy Boothroyd knows what he has to offer.

The Irishman was told last season by the previous manager Chris Coleman that his future lay elsewhere and that he could move clubs. He went out on loan to Leeds United where he had a successful season, helping the Yorkshire club win promotion back to the Championship.

He had expressed the desire to join Leeds on a permanent deal, but Leeds boss Simon Grayson prevaricated and eventually declined to offer Doyle anything.

With no apparent interest in the combative midfielder, it looks as if Coventry City will have Doyle's services for a bit longer and in keeping him they have a ready made replacement for the injured 'Pitbull' Deegan.
