Former Coventry City forward David Speedie has been awarded €85,000 after a defamation case against the Irish newspaper Sunday World.
The Sunday World published a piece which claimed that Irish police had 'reason to suspect he was involved in criminal activity'.
A High Court awarded Speedie €85,000 and ordered the paper to publish an apology, following a five day trial.
