Daniels Injury Not Serious

Coventry City's Billy Daniels, who was injured late on in the 1-1 draw at Yeovil, has not, as originally feared broken a metatarsal, he has a badly bruised foot and may be fit to face Sheffield United tonight.

The 18 year old Academy graduate only signed his professional contract with Coventry City earlier this summer and it was feared he might miss up to six weeks, but he will face a fitness test later today to see if he will be able to play some part in the first home game of the season.

Full back Jordan Clarke will also have a fitness test this morning to make sure that the twisted knee he suffered at Yeovil has fully mended.

If Daniels (pictured above) fails his fitness test, or City boss Andy Thorn decides not to risk him, Steven Jennings could be in line to make his debut for Coventry tonight. Jennings finally signed for the Sky Blues late last week after having an extended trial with the club.

One player who will definitely miss tonight's clash with The Blades is John Fleck, ruled out for around three weeks with a hamstring strain. Thorn will have to decide whether to play Gary McSheffrey or Carl Baker (pictured below) in his place. Fleck was all set to join Sheffield United from Rangers last season until bureaucracy thwarted the move.

Thorn told the CT's Alan Poole, “It’s a blow losing a player of his quality so early in the season, but these things happen and you just have to get on with it.

“This will be a big test for us against a team who are clear favourites for the title this season so it will be great if we can start like we finished at Yeovil because we got better as the game went on.”
