The head of Nuneaton & Bedworth District Council Planning Department has said that they would view any plans submitted for a stadium on the 71 acre Hawkesbury golf course site with an open mind.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Simon Gilbert, Cllr Bob Copeland said: “I have to keep an open mind if any application were to come in.

“The council has no choice, if any application comes in it would have to be looked at.... on its own merits and the council will follow the appropriate process. It would end up before the planning committee and everyone’s views would be taken into account.”
