The Cards have a numer of suspensions and the 21 year old defender will provide cover for the remainder of their fixtures. Injuries have kept Cooney out of action in recent years and he has only played eight times for the reserves and once for the first team in the friendly at Worcester.
Cooney is out of contract at the end of the season and will not be retained.
