Contract Talks Ongoing

With several Coventry City players out of contract soon, manager Chris Coleman has been busy speaking to the players and their agents either to discuss new terms or the possibility of being released.

Coleman and the club are currently negotiating with Stephen Wright, Clinton Morrison and Dimi Konstantopoulos.

Coleman revealed, "We are discussing with their agents about contracts for next season, We have not yet put an offer to them because there is always a bit of sparring over what they want and what we want to give, which is normal, but hopefully we will get something sorted out."

Number two goal keeper Dimi Konstantopoulos, might not want to stay at the club as he will only get a first team game in the event of an injury to the current number one shot stopper Keiren Westwood. Konstantopolous would like to play as much as he can and might prefer to find a new club that would satisfy his desires.

Coleman understand Konstantopolous' problems saying, "Dimi is more than capable of doing a job but he is number two to the player I think is the best in our league, so if Keiren is fit he will play and it is hard for him to keep himself motivated. He has been as good as gold and we would be interested in extending his contract but he is desperate to play football so that's the problem we have."

Coleman spoke about using squad rotation during the last few games of the season, especially as any realistic chances of reaching the play offs have now vanished. He is keen to give some of young player the chance to prove to him and the fans what they are capable of now that the pressure has been lifted slightly.

Coleman explained, "We want to look at players like Chris Hussey, Jermaine Grandison and Jordan Clarke who has just come back in and looked good in training and I would like to give them a game if possible, in their correct positions."

"It is important for us to finish as high as we can and if the lads who are already in the team are doing a good job then they are not going to want to come out of the team, and rightly so. But I am thinking it would be nice to give them a little bit of experience."
