Coventry City manager, Chris Coleman is in optimistic mood ahead of tonights home clash with table topping Newcastle United.

Despite being without up to seven first choice players, 'City Boss Coleman is adamant that the available players are capable of pulling off a positive result.

Coventry City haven't won in nine games and are just above the relegation zone and are desperate for points.

Mr. Coleman said, “We can’t harp on about what is done because that’s not going to help us tonight in what’s going to be a very tough game against possibly the best team at our level. They’re favourites to be promoted, and rightly so because they have got quality in most positions."

“They are 10 points clear of the team in third so it is a big task for us – but is also another opportunity. Opportunities come up all the time, sometimes you don’t take them because they are hard work, but when you are in our situation the only way you are going to get out of it is with hard work. I have been in football a long time and I know how it works."

"It can change very quickly. Just when you are not expecting it you can get a little bit of luck, maybe, and something can turn your season around. Who knows? They have gone to Scunthorpe and lost so they are not unbeatable."

"They have won six games in a row so they are in good form, while we have not won for nine or ten games, so looking at the stats there should only be one winner. But football is not like that. Looking at the next two games, Peterborough is a six-pointer, of course it is, but we have got to go into this game tonight believing and needing to get something out of it."

“The three points we are looking for, if they come against the top of the table then that can give you a real boost.”
