Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has warned Newcastle United boss that life in the Championship is equally as tough as that in the Premier League.

Newcastle have brought in Tyneside legend Alan Shearer and former City manager Iain Dowie to try and save Newcastle who are in the bottom three from the drop into the Championship.

Coleman told The Mirror: "There has never been a more dangerous time to be in this division.

"It is not inconceivable Newcastle could be in our league next season and who would have thought that? "If it can happen to them, it can happen to anybody.

"Just look at Southampton - it isn't so long ago they were in the Premier League.

"Now they appear to be going into League One and administration. It shows how badly managed some clubs are financially."
