Coventry City midfielder Sammy Clingan played the whole match for Northern Ireland in their 2-1 Euro 2012 Qualifier defeat against Serbia tonight.

UEFA, took the decent step of not banning the Northern Ireland fans from a game that was played behind closed doors after Serbia fans had caused a qualifier against Italy to be abandoned after six minutes, and 265 Northern Ireland fans were in Belgrade to see Clingan win his 26th cap.

Northern Ireland took the lead when a 39th minute looping header by Gareth McAuley went into the net.

Lee Camp, who was selected ahead of former Sky Blue Jonny Tuffey in goal, made a cracking save early in the second half before , Pantelic levelled in the 64th minute with a shot on the turn.

In the 73rd minute, Northern Ireland were condemned to defeat when a ball was played up to Tosic to hammer high into the net from just inside the area.

Northern Ireland play Slovenia on Tuesday at Windsor Park, Belfast.
