City boss Mark Robins told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire about the defeat which leaves City seventeen points adrift of safety: “It was horrendous, absolutely horrendous,” said Robins in a calm yet cutting post match assessment of his side who stretched their gap between the safety mark to an seemingly unassailable 17 points.
“We shot ourselves in the foot from minute one and never regained any composure what-so-ever.
“We were looking to start the game brightly and get some sort of foothold in the game but we didn’t do that, and worse than that we conceded a goal that put us on the back foot.
“So it wasn’t great, to say the least. It’s really disappointing because we looked like rabbits frozen in the headlights. It’s clearly got to be better than that.
“We’ve got games left until the end of the season but we still don’t look like we’re going to score a goal and we need to demand that from each other.
“My point was to try to get players up the field as quickly as we can and create opportunities to score goals. And we clearly haven’t done that, which is a major disappointment.
“It was just shell shocking watching that performance.”
City are back in action on Saturday and tickets are on general sale.
