City Trying To Set Up Irish Matches

It has finally been announced that Coventry City are looking to play two matches in the Republic Of Ireland.

With a pre-season tour to Slovenia falling through, the Sky Blues are looking to play Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne who are both based in Dublin.

However, the League of Ireland season is in full swing and any pre-season game would needed to be fitted in around a club's league and/or European committments, so at the moment, any trip to Ireland which would be from Monday July 13th to Sunday July 19th is very much subject to confirmation.

“We’ve been working on Ireland where we feel we could play some good games,” said Tony Mowbray to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner.

“Shelbourne has been talked about and they’re playing at the moment.

"When you play the Irish teams they are always competitive because they don’t like losing to the English teams, so they are really tough games so early in the pre-season.

“We are just trying to put that together. If it works, it works – if it doesn’t then we will get on at Ryton and make it work and be ready for the new season.”
