City Thirteenth

Coventry City are thirteenth in the Championship table after beating Birmingham City 1-0 at the Ricoh Arena this afternoon.

The win lifted City up a place and they now have 44 points from thirty three matches played. The Sky Blues are three wins off a play-off place but still have a negative goal difference.

Wolves who play Cardiff tomorrow lead the table by three points from Birmingham City.

Jay Tabb say on the bench for third placed Reading in a 2-0 home defeat by fourth placed Bristol City. Dele Adebola was one of the Robins goalscorers.

Fifth placed Preston lost 3-1 at second bottom Southampton, whilst Sheffield United made the long trip to Plymouth and left with a 2-2 draw.

In the East Midlands derby, Derby County followed up their FA Cup win with a 3-1 win at the City Ground.

Bottom side Charlton drew 0-0 at Barnsley (Michael Mifsud played the whole game) whilst Norwich, whom City travel to next Saturday, drew 1-1 at home with Burnley.

The rest of the Championship scores saw Ipswich win 3-1 at QPR, Sheffield Wednesday beat Crystal Palace 2-0, Swansea beat Doncaster 3-1 and Watford won 2-0 at Blackpool.

Tuesday night's FACup Fifth Round replay opponets Blackburn Rovers lost 2-1 at Manchester United.

Former City Captain Stephen Hughes scored for Walsall in a 2-0 win at Northampton with Adam Virgo finding the net for Brighton in a 1-0 win at Millwall.

Kevin Kyle played the whole game for Kilmarnock in a 3-1 defeat at Rangers.

Locally, Rugby Town lost 3-1 at Hemel Hempsted and in the Southern League Midland Division, leaders Leamington won 2-1 at Romulus with goals from Bellingham and Corbett.

Second placed Nuneaton won 4-0 at Aylesbury United. Former Sky Blue Mark Noon was on target for Boro.

Another former City man Tom Bates scored twice for third placed Atherstone in a 5-0 win against Barton Rovers.

Stratford Town are out of the FA Vase with a 2-0 defeat at Whitley Bay in front of a crowd of 776.

Coventry Sphinx's 1-0 defeat at Market Drayton is mentioned elsewhere but Racing Club Warwick had a day to forget. They were beaten 11-1 at Barwell, who have Andy Ducros on their books. Former City youngster Ange Lourougnon scored four goals with Gary McPhee also on target for Marcus Law's side.

Coventry Copsewood are out of the Endsleigh Challenge Cup. They were beaten 1-0 at home by a 34th minute Douglas goal for Castle Vale.

In the Midland Combination Premier Division, second placed Southam United lost 1-0 at home to GSA Sports and Massey Ferguson were held at home 1-1 by Meir KA. Newey equalised for the Tractormen in the 78th minute.
