City Still Fourteenth

Coventry City remain fourteenth in the Championship after today's matches.

Wolves, who were beaten by the Sky Blues last week, lost again. This time at Burnley,whom City visit on Tuesday night (7.45pm). Chris McCann scored the only goal of the game in the sixth minute.

Birmingham City are second after a 2-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest.

Fourth Placed Preston beat Norwich City 1-0 with Bristol City moving up to seventh after a 2-0 home win against Southampton. Former City striker Dele Adebola gave The Robins the lead.

Ipswich drew 1-1 with Blackpool whilst ever improving Doncaster Rovers beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 and bottom side Charlton beat Plymouth 2-0.

In League One, leaders Leicester drew 1-1 at home with Swindon Town. Former City player and Manager Micky Adams continues to come under criticism from Brighton fans after Albion were beaten 2-0 at home by Carlisle United.

There were no shocks today in the FA Cup, Swansea and Sheffield United joined the Sky Blues in Championship clubs earning replays whilst Watford led but were beaten 3-1 at Vicarage Road by Chelsea. In the all Premier League clash, West Ham were booed by some of their fans in the 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough.

Locally, a penalty by former City reserve teamer Liam Nicell gave Rugby Town a 2-2 draw with Yate Town in front of 231 fans at Butlin Road. VS were 2-0 down at the break but a Metitri own goal in the 63rd minute and then Nicell's penalty earned Tony Dobson's side a draw.

Southern League Midland Division leaders Leamington FC were beaten 3-0 by Sutton Coldfield Town. A crowd of 530 saw goals from Matt, Quigan and an Hier own goal go in to the Brakes net.

A Murphy hat-trick in front of 616 at Liberty Way gave Nuneaton 3-1 win over Stourport Swifts.

Former Sky Blue and Sphinx man Tom Bates scored for Atherstone in a 3-1 win at Malvern Town. Perry and James Mace were also on the scoresheet.

Bedworth United drew 3-3 with Woodford United at The Oval. Connelly and a brace from Twigger including an 89th minute penalty earned the Greenbacks a draw.

Coventry Sphinx's 4-2 Midland Alliance win can read about elsehwere on this site. But in the Midland Alliance, Racing Club Warwick lost 6-0 at Friar Lane & Epworth.

Stratford's FA Vase tie at Whitley Bay was postponed and will be played next Saturday. The winner will play Biggleswade Town who beat Midland Alliance side Market Drayton Town 4-2 in the sixth round.

In the all Coventry Midland Combination Premier Division clash, Coventry Copsewood won 1-0 at Allard Way. A very poor crowd saw a Williams goal ten minutes from time win the match.

Southam won 3-1 at Brocton with Nuneaton Griff drawing 2-2 at Pershore Town.

In Division Three, Coventry Amateurs were beaten 6-0 at home by Kenilworth Town KH.

The delayed Coventry Charity Cup Quarter-Final between Stockingford and Hawkesmill saw a 2-1 win for the Cabbage.
