City Stay Out Of The Bottom Three

Results conspired to keep Coventry City out of the bottom three of the Championship tonight.

Sheffield Wednesday would have gone above City if they got a result at Doncaster Rovers but a goal from Billy Sharp gave the Keepmoat Stadium based side all three points.

Ipswich Town also could have gone above City if they have beaten basement side Peterborough United by more than two goals. However, the game at Portman Road finished in a 0-0 draw.

Other Championship scores saw Bristol City win 3-1 at Leicester, Blackpool won 3-0 at Middlesbrough, Cardiff won 2-0 at West Brom. The games at Preston and Sheffield United finished in 0-0 draws.

Plymouth who are also in the bottom three lost 1-0 at Swansea City.

City old boys Michael Doyle. Richie Partridge and Lee Fowler were all involved in Leeds United 5-1 after extra time FA Cup Second Round victory against Kettering Town. Leeds now face Manchester United in Round Three.

Locally, Nuneaton Town drew 0-0 with Stourbridge but Rugby Town lost 4-1 at home to Brackley.
