City Remain 13th

Coventry City remain in 13th place after their 0-0 draw with Preston North End.

Preston are down to third whilst leaders Wolves won 3-1 at Charlton with Welsh international Sam Vokes scoring twice. Birmingham City beat Doncaster 1-0 to go second.

Plymouth are bottom after losing 2-1 at home to Norwich City. There were also wins for Crystal Palace, Sheff Wed,Blackpool,Ipswich and Burnley for whom Coventrian Graham Alexander scored twice.

Derby won their first league game of the season beating Sheffield United,whom City travel to on Tuesday night 2-1.

Lee Hughes scored to keep Oldham top of League one whilst Rohan Ricketts scored twice for Walsall in a win at Bristol Rovers.

Andy Morrell scored his second goal for Bury in a 3-1 win at home to Lincoln City whilst Iyseden Christie netted twice for Kettering Town.

Locally, Atherstone Town are through to the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win at Hednesford. Nuneaton are also through after a 3-1 home win against Tipton.

Rugby Town and Southam United both earned replays after 0-0 draws but Leamingtom lost 3-0 at home to Evesham and Stratford Town lost 2-1 at Romulus.

In the Midland Combination Premier Division, Craig Martin scored twice for Coventry Copsewood in a 4-1 win against Coton Green. Massey Ferguson drew 1-1 at Cadbury Athletic whilst Nuneaton Griff beat Brocton 3-1.

In the Endsleigh Challenge Cup Preliminary Round,Coventry Amateurs lost 6-2 at Shipston Excelsior.
