City Players Get A Night Away For Crawley

Coventry City players will be spending Saturday night in a hotel ahead of the game at Crawley Town.

Sisu cut back on overnight stays in hotels due to costs a number of seasons ago and apart from the odd game at somewhere like Hartlepool United, the players have by and large travelled there and back in a day.

However, in order to avoid the players having to get up at some ridiculously stupid early hours due to the Football League deciding on a 12.15pm kick, the Sky Blues are doing what some of their supporters are doing and staying over.

City boss Tony Mowbray, who had a bit of a culture shock when he found out that the Sky Blues normally do not do over-night stays, told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “We’ll train at Ryton on Saturday morning, have lunch and then travel down.

“The players will get themselves settled in their bedrooms, come down for dinner and go to bed.

“We’ll have a meeting on Sunday morning before we start and that will all be set up with overhead projectors to remind them of all the tactics and everything we have gone through on the training ground. We’ll have breakfast together and then get to the game and hopefully get the result.”
