Former Coventry City youngsters Lee Fowler and Cameron Belford have signed for Wrexham FC.

Fowler, who in the season just gone has played for Nuneaton Town and Crawley Town, has played for Wrexham before from 2012 to 2013 and joined after passing a medical on Wednesday.

Goalkeeper Cameron Belford had turned down a year at Swindon Town and signed a year long deal along with Fowler.

Speaking about the pair, Gary Mills, the Wrexham boss and former Coventry City Reserve Team manager told the Daily Post: “Delighted, it has been going on for two or three weeks now and Lee Fowler obviously had other options, particularly the Chesterfield option, where he knows Dean Saunders very well.

“But he has signed today, the medical was no problem, he is the fittest I have ever seen him and I am delighted to have his signature.

“Quality, that is the key word quality, he is an important player for me, to get somebody like Lee, I have had a couple of really good players at Gateshead for the last couple of years and he brings real quality and that sums it up really.”

On Belford, Mills said:“Cameron Belford, he was with Swindon this season, and they offered him another 12 months at Swindon, but I am delighted he has signed for us.

“He lost his way a little bit before he went to Swindon, but he is an absolutely quality goalkeeper. He is someone who knows the level and knows the league and I think he is a good player we have just signed in a vital position.”
