Ian Butterworth has been appointed Reserve Team Manager at Hartlepool United. The centre half now 42 years old, came through the ranks at Highfield Road but left City in a deal which also took Stuart Pearce to Nottingham Forest. He also appeared for Norwich. He was last working for the FA at the World Cup as a scout.

Colin Healy is training with Ipswich Town. The midfelder who was popular during his short stay at Highfield Road suffered two broken legs during his time at Sunderland and was released when his contract expired last month.

Former City midfielder Dennis Wise looks close to closing a deal for another former City midfielder Willie Boland. The former Republic Of Ireland U21 international was at Cardiff City and made 209 (+ 25 sub) appearances for the Bluebirds after being released by the Sky Blues.
