Former Sky Blues defender Stuart Pearce has been named as manager of Manchester City following the resignation of former City trialist Kevin Keegan.
Pearce who has also managed Nottingham Forest and was fancied by some Coventry supporters for the Highfield Road job will be in charge until the end of the season when the situation will be reviewed.

Citizens Chairman John Wardle said: "Stuart has the respect of everybody at this club and we all wish him every success."

Not surprisingly, the media have had a field day on this and ex City players Sam Allardyce and Gordon Strachan have been mentioned as possible replacements.
Carlton Palmer's appointment as manager of Mansfield Town has not been received well by Stags supporters despite the fact that the former City defender has been working at the club for free.

Mansfield supporters are unhappy at the way former manager Keith Curle has been treated over accusations of the bullying of a youth team player and booed Palmer and midfielder Fraser McLachlan in their last game.

Palmer said: The supporters are affecting the players and it's no coincidence we are winning away and not getting results at home.

"I inherited a side that were not doing it and I have been brave enough to make decisions on players.

"All I've done is bring in new young players for the future and I'm getting vilified for it."
