City Off The Bottom

Coventry City are off the bottom of the Championship after beating Leeds United 2-1.

The two penalties converted by Gary McSheffrey, saw City move up to 22nd in the table after Doncaster Rovers were beaten 3-1 at home by Blackpool and Nottingham Forest lost 2-1 at Middlesbrough with a goal from Lukas Jutkiewicz.

City are now six points behind Bristol City who came back to draw 2-2 against Crystal Palace and Milwall who were pegged back 2-2 at Brighton.

In the big game at the top, West Ham United and second placed Southampton drew 1-1. Cardiff gained ground on Southampton with a 3-1 home win over Peterborough whilst Birmingham drew 0-0 with Hull.

Elsewhere, Reading won 1-0 at Derby to move Reading into the Play-Off places. Watford beat Leicester 3-2 and Portsmouth who are expected to face a points deduction lost 1-0 at home to Ipswich.

Former City loanee Jonnie Jackson scored twice for Charlton whilst Lee Hughes was on target for Notts County.
