Coventry City have taken Dutch central defender Quido Lanzaat on trial.

Currently out of contract, the 29 year old has played for Ajax, Borussia Moenchengladbach and CSKA Sofia and is being put through his paces at Ryton.

However, Lanzaat is unlikely to make City's squad for the game against Blackpool due to not having played since November.

Speaking to the CT, City boss Chris Coleman said: "He has not played since November so we have to have a look at him but his quality is there, no doubt about that.

"He can play at centre back or full back but he is certainly not ready for the weekend because, physically, he has not kicked a ball for some months.

"We could have got him in the summer but we could not get the deal done with Sofia, so that fell apart. We have got the chance to have a look at him and I thought it would be foolish of us not to.

"Technically, he is very good, excellent in one v one situations but we just have to see what he's like physically because he needs games."
