Coventry City are a long way off sorting out a deal to sign Bristol City winger Michael McIndoe says City boss Chris Coleman.

Speaking to the CT, Coleman said: "I know that it has come out that we have agreed a fee with Bristol City but we are yet to agree other things, so the deal is far from being done and that's all I can say."

When asked if a deal for McIndoe and another others would be done in time for Sunday's opening Championship game against Ipswich, Coleman said: "I am hoping, praying and fingers are crossed because we owe it to the supporters and the boys we have got who have done a great job over the last six weeks.

They have got their heads down and got on with it. Last year they had all the speculation that we were signing this one and signing that one, and this year they have just got on with it.

"We have got a nice tight group at the minute so whoever does walk through the door is walking into a good group of lads and professionals who want to do well and work hard for each other.

"In that respect, funnily enough, it has worked for us because we were looking for a tighter group.

"They have been a bit despondent at times but you can't blame them for that because we are a very young and small squad and we need help.

"But we are trying our best to get help, so whoever does walk through the door - and I am hoping there will be at least a couple - are coming in to a good group of lads who are ready for a rollercoaster ride this season, and they are going to have to fit into what we have already got."
