City Ladies Win At Cardiff

Coventry City Ladies moved up the WPL League table with a 2-0 victory at Cardiff City.

City's second visit to the Cardiff International Stadium in a week and this time for a re-arranged league fixture saw City without the injured Maria Gauntlett and Leanne McKenna and the ill Milly Durrant, but they welcomed back Helen Dermody and Courtney Sweetman-Kirk.

Cardiff had the early play but as we reached the half hour mark in the third game this season between the two sides, the first goal was still awaited.

And in the 38th minute, the deadlock was finally broken when Jade Formaston flicked up Gina Goulding's through ball and volleyed into the far corner to put the Sky Blues ahead.

City keeper Sue Wood saved a free kick to ensure that Coventry went in at the break ahead.

In the second half, City doubled their tally when Danni Saulter's 60th minute shot was blocked by Nokes and Nicole Dale sidefooted left footed into the corner from 18 yards for her first goal for City Ladies since joining late last year and a 2-0 win for the Sky Blues in a hard fought game.
