Coventry City Ladies are out of the Women's FA Cup after going down to a 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic.

City, who had beaten Leeds United, Oxford United and Stoke City took on Charlton Athletic from the WPL Southern Leaague in an Women's FA Cup Fifth Round tie at Bedworth United FC.

The Sky Blues were able to name a strong with latest recruits Carly Davies and Emma Hollingsworth only making the bench.

Staight from the kick off and Toussaint was on the attack for the Sky Blues winning a corner.

However, in the their first attack, Charlton took a seventh lead when Kit Graham was left with room to flick into the bottom corner of the net from the edge of the area.

City won a corner that was headed by Formaston at Megan Lynch in goal for the WPL League Cup finalists.

Graham fired over, City won a corner and after a great block, Sue Wood saved from Pittock.

With Dermody wasted on the left wing and other square pegs in round holes, City struggled in the midfield to control the game in a way they needed to. So the Sky Blues had to rely on hard work and on the half hour mark, Toussaint won a corner. It was a beautifully placed ball by Helen Dermody and there was Maz Gauntlett to drive into the net and draw City level.

Hughes drove over and Ash Neville delivered a curling shot which Megan did well to deal with.

Jade Formaston was in great form making some great tackles to ensure City were level at the break.

The Sky Blues won an early corner and had Toussaint causing problems for the Athletic defence.

Both side won corners and Megan flapped away a cross before Dermody earned a 54th minute corner.

City had the pressure but a mistake let Kit Graham in on goal and she kept her cool to fire Charlton back in front.

Formaston shot over for the Sky Blues, who gave Carly Davies her debut in the 66th minute when she came on for Maz Gauntlett who had displayed some nice touches.

Davies went close for a City side who made their second substitute in the 71st minute when Callen Barber came on Formaston.

Wood had to push a shot over to concede a 74th minute corner and three minutes later, City had a corner that saw Hughes fire over.

Going into the last five minutes with the side from South East London getting a corner and having Amy Howlett firing over, City battled away but could not find a goal and went out of the cup.
