Coventry City Ladies got their season off to a perfect start with an eight-nil thrashing of Hereford Pegasus.

Stuart Wilson's side who were Midland Women's Combination runners-up last season, attacked from the first whistle and bombarded the visitors making their debut at this level.

City were ahead after sixteen minutes when Jodie White hit the post. Mel Mayo's clearance found Katy Moran who banged the ball into the bottom corner.

Emma Lipman added a second from an acute angle eleven minutes later which was followed by Jade Formaston reacting to a quick free kick and rounding the keeper to score in the 34th minute.

The Sky Blues, fielding eight players who have come through the club's ranks, highlighted their superiority in the second half with full frontal assault of the Pegasus goal.

Shots rained in but it was not until the hour mark that Jodie White's header from a Brace cross crept past the keeper for the fourth goal.

Mel Byrne

With twenty minutes left and the visiting keeper Jenny Shael and the woodwork taking a pounding,Wilson replaced his front two with Helen Dermody and Kerry Ann Willis who netted a fifth in the 74th minute with a low drive.

Enter Helen Dermody who hit a hat-trick in the last sixteen minutes.

She was first to a rebound after a 76th minute Brace shot was parried and did the same again in the 85th minute from a Hansen rebound.

Deep in stoppage time, Dermody completed her hat-trick by banging home from close range following more good work from Natalie Brace.

The win left Stuart Wilson happy with his team's performance and looking forward to the next game at Loughborough next Sunday.
