Coventry City Ladies are top of the league at Christmas after a 2-0 victory over Bradford City. ‎

At Bedworth United's Oval, the Sky Blues were able to field a strong team for their final WPL Northern League of 2014.

In the opening seconds, Craig Nicholls side who went into the game second in the table, attacked through Amber Hughes who swept a shot onto the bar. When the ball came lose, Hughes was in again, getting in a shot which struck the hand of a visiting defender. The City players appealed but referee Mr Henry was having none of it.‎
The Sky Blues fashioned a 14th minute corner‎ and another six minutes later as well as having Ashley Neville fire wide as City dominated the early play.

‎Bradford came back with a 25th minute corner and a Chantelle O'Hara shot at Sue Wood but City were up the other end with two Toussaint efforts.

In the 34th minute, Hughes struck the bar for a second time with a curler from 25 yards which led to a City corner.

‎The superb Amber Hughes and Quayle before Toussaint won City another corner deep in stoppage. Gauntlett was there to meet the flag kick but Carrie Simpson in the Bantams goal made a reaction save to keep things level at the break.

Seven minutes in and a collision involving Destiny Toussaint and Charlotte Stuart held up play. Thankfully, both players were able to get up and ‎carry on in a game which saw the Sky Blues take a 58th minute lead thanks to a great run and some persistence from Amber Hughes who centred for Helen Dermody to score from close range.‎
‎Bradford defended for all their might ‎but in the 82nd minute, Destiny Toussaint ghosted in from the right and fired low into the bottom corner to put the Sky Blues top of the league for Christmas thanks to this 2-0 victory.
