City Ladies Boss Stoical After Cup Victory

Coventry City Ladies coach Craig Nicholls was stoical following his side's 19-0 record breaking Birmingham County FA Women's Cup victory over Coseley Town.

Nicholls told Matty Roper: “Cup draws can pitch teams of very different abilities and ambitions together in the early stages of the competition, and with respect to Coseley we would have always expected to win this very comfortably.”

“To be fair to them, they got lots of bodies behind the ball, so we were obliged to construct ways behind and through them. We may have been a little wasteful early on, but once the goals started to flow midway through the first half we relaxed and played with real purpose and authority”

“The important thing is we’ve had a good 90 minutes after two blank weekends; so valuable preparation for our League Cup match at Lewes next Sunday for a place in the Quarter Finals. Then it’s back to the serious stuff, Premier League at Huddersfield”
