Coventry City got their best result ever at Rochdale but lost on penalties after the game finished 1-1 after extra time.

The Sky Blues included Bryn Morris in their starting line up and played reasonably well before Rochdale took the lead with a 45th minute screamer from Donal McDermott.

City had a couple of penalty appeals turned down and a goal disallowed but in the 86th minute, they equalised thanks to a close range finish from Marcus Tudgay.

So extra time it was for the 400 or so City supporters, many of who had been sat on a traffic heavy M6 in a crowd of 1,986.

That failed to bring a goal and the match went to penalties.

Everyone had scored theirs until Ruben Lameiras was put off by Lillis' antics on the goal-line and he hit the bar.

Calvin Andrew stepped up to score and City were out.
