City Directors On Fixtures Lists

Members of Coventry City's Board have been speaking about the fixtures which were announced yesterday.

Marketing Director Ken Sharp said: "The release of the fixtures has already caught the imagination of everybody connected with the Club, and with the great teams visiting us for our opening four home fixtures it couldn't have been any better for us.

"We had fantastic support during 2005/2006 and our average attendance of over 22,000 - incidentally our best for over 25 years - underlines this, and I think we will blow this out of the water next season. "With this in mind it could be that we are heading for eight maybe nine sell-outs in the coming campaign, which will mean that fans

who are yet to purchase their season ticket will miss out on the big games. "And with season ticket holders effectively getting three games free, it offers great value for money."

Coventrian and City Director Joe Elliott also said:"In terms of the timing of the games we really couldn't have asked for any more, in fact we couldn't have hand-picked the fixtures any better. The first four games are four of the biggest of the whole season and we are certain that we will start the season with full-houses for these fixtures.

"When you look at the key dates throughout the season it has worked out fantastically for us. The first game under lights will be the local derby with Birmingham, which falls in half-term, and they are certain to bring a large following and then at Christmas we welcome Ipswich on Boxing Day and that is sure to see a fantastic crowd.

"In the season run-in when we all hope we will be aiming for at least a play-off place there are crunch games against Southampton, Wolves, QPR and West Brom all at the Ricoh, which means the excitement will go right down to the wire."
