City At Hinckley Live Updates

Lives updates from Coventry City's pre-season game at Hinckley United will appear on this site.

Kick off at Hinckley is at 7pm.

 Coventry City team:

Murphy, Keogh, Hussey, Clingan, Cranie, McPake, Bell, Baker, Jutkiewicz, O'Donovan, McSheffrey.

Hinckley Team:

Haystead, Oddy, Turner, Gooding, Roper, Everton, Gray. Kerry, Kolodynski, Hendrie, Byrne.

 It is a sunny evening in Hinckley, but the kick off has been delayed by ten minutes.

Kolodynski and Kerry both have shots that are blocked by the City defence before Murphy catches the ball and clears up field.

Joe Elliott is once again in with the away supporters. Bell has a shot saved and a minute later Hussey also has his shot well saved.

At 7:00pm the Hinckley players come out onto the pitch despite an announcement that the kick off has been delayed. There is no sign of the Sky Blues though.

Christie has replaced McPake even before the start of the game.

The referee for tonight's game is Mr Ian Dudley.

The game is underway as Coventry kick off. City are into their stride from the off.

Within the first minute, McSheffrey managed to keep the ball in play on the right wing before cutting in to get a good shot on target which  was well saved by Haystead, but Bell fired over the bar from 20 yards the rebound

Goal: It's O'Donovan again on the scoresheet. He beats the offside trap ans slots the ball home under the advancing Haystead. Hinckley 0 Coventry City 1

 Now it is Hinckey's turn to attack. With just six minutes on the clock Byrne has a shot blocked, but City conceded a corner, but Coventry clear the threat easily.

Sorry for the break, the server went down for a few minutes.

8 minutes gone and City take a short corner to Bell, but the ball ends up back o the halfway line.

Two minutes later and City win another corner and Cranie gets a header slightly off target, but the ball is cleared up field.

19th minute and Cyrus Christie wins a corner for City which, once again comes to nothing.

Bill Daniels and Lewis Rankine, who both scored for the under 18's last saturday are both warming up.

26 minutes, McSheffrey taks a free kick from 19 yards out, but it goes high and wide.

James McPake is now doing some warming up exercises.

29 minutes gone and Hussey slots a pass to Jutkiewicz who cuts inside and unleashes a left footed shot which Haystead pushes onto the bar and out for a corner to City. Baker's shot from the corner is deflected out for another corner.

A bad foul by Gooding on Carl Baker results in a stiff talking to by the referee, but no card is issued.

37 minutes and Chris Hussey goes on a run, but fires his shot over the bar.

Two minutes later and Murphy makes his first real save of the game. He dives to his left to deny Kolodynski.

Into the last five minutes of the first half and Everton heads over from a Hinckley corner.

Christie wins another corner for City and then has his shot blocked.

 Half time At the break City go in one up.

Andy Thorn makes ten changes at half time with only Murphy staying on the field. McPake is on and Eastwood is leading the line.

Correction, Murphy has been replaced as well.

The Coventry City team for the second half is, Dunn, Phillips, Cameron, Wood, McPake, Bigirimana, Ruffles, Thomas, Wilson, Jeffers, Eastwood.

 Action from the off, but no goals yet! Hinckley have the first chance of the second half, but the shot is dragged wide. Then Jeffers gets through the defence, but his shot is blocked. City attack again and this time Jeffers heads over the bar.

Seven minutes into the half and Eastwood wins a corner which is taken and the ball eventually falls to Wilson who shoots straight at the 'keeper.

Two minutes later and it is Ruffles' turn to try his luck with a left footed effort which is saved.

It's all City at the moment and they are attacking again, this time Phillips goes racing down tthe wing, but with more enthusiasm than directionand the attack peters out.

Coventry have a stunning shot, but the ball hits the underide of the crossbar and bounces down and is cleared for the first of two corners.

Ben Williamson has a shot which goes wide of Dunn's goal. Ruffles attacks for City and wins a corner.

Goal. Eastwood scores in an old fashion route one style when he latches on to a through ball from Dunn

Two minutes later and Estwood is through again, he goes round the 'keeper, but his shot is cleared off the line.

64th minute. A great move sees Ruffles cross from the left just to miss Eastwood and Phillips and the move draws appause from Thorn and Harrison.

 Goal. Conor Thomas makes it 3-0 to Coventry when he brilliantly lifts the ball over the 'keeper from the edge of the area.

 Hinckley are having a torrid time and manager Dean Thomas has had a rant at his players as City continue to dominate. Dunn, in the City goal has only had one save to make and that was Williamson in the 72nd minute.

The attendance has been announced as 1112.

82nd minute. A good ball from Jeffers to Ruffles who has his shot blocked. Eastwood follows up with a tame shot.

Eastwood wins another corner for City with just three minutes of normal time remaining.

With a minute to go Camreon makes a run along the right flank. He does a step over before crossing to Ruffles, but he fires his shotewell wide of the upright..

The referee blows for full time.
