Carsley The Match Day Guest

The Coventry City Former Players Association are very pleased to announce that popular former Sky Blue defender Lee Carsley is the latest former Sky Blues star to accept our invitation to be the Association’s ‘Special Guest’.

Lee is a regular supporter of City Legends XI games and frequently turns out again in the Sky Blue to assist various charities in games organised by CCFPA members Dave Busst and Dave Bennett.

He signed up for CCFPA last season on the stage of Lady G’s and we welcome him back in the hope he will see the Sky Blues ‘bash’ top six rivals Burton Albion (once more under the management of Nigel Clough).

The game at the Ricoh is on Saturday, 16th January 2014 just a few days after tonight’s vital top six home clash with Walsall and fans will be looking to the Sky Blues for a sizzling performance in both games after their 5-0 away demolition of Crewe Alexandra in their last outing.

An Irish international with 40 caps, Lee played 47 League games for CCFC in from 2000-02 after spells with Derby County and Blackburn Rovers and put in another 25 appearances for the Sky Blues in 2010-11 after returning from a successful stint with Everton.  In 2011 he became our first team coach (and briefly caretaker manager in both 2012 and 2013). In October 2013 ‘Carso’ had a short spell as assistant gaffer at Sheffield United and since then, as well as doing a variety of media work, has been part of the management set up at Brentford including (including caretaker manager with fellow CCFPA member Paul Williams as assistant) and is also currently coaching the England Under 19 squad under former Sky Blue gaffer Aidy Boothroyd.

Look out for Lee around and about the stadium in the JSB’s Family Zone and the various supporters lounges before the game, contributing match analysis on the local radio (BBC CWR) and in the G-Casino, once more on the stage of Lady Gs, with CCFPA’s Billy Bell after the game next Saturday.

Welcome back Mr Carsley!
